Coisas do Brasil
"Não me peça que eu lhe faça uma canção como se deve: correta, branca, suave, muito limpa, muito leve... Sons-palavras são navalhas. E eu não posso cantar como convém, sem querer ferir ninguém. Amar e mudar as coisas me interessam mais".

Things from Brazil
Don’t ask me to write a song the way one is suppose to write songs: correct, plain, smooth, clean, soft… Words through music are like sharp knives. Besides, I can’t sing to conform and avoid doing any harm to anyone. Loving and making changes interest me much more”.

After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

MUSIC FACTS:
DID YOU KNOW ?...
In ancient Greece, they referred to the Spirit of creation as "The Muse." Euterpe, the Muse of Music and Lyric poetry, has her origin in water. The ancients believed that water talked as it flowed, so this goddess is endowed with the gift of prophecy. A prophet is also a poet and can inspire others to unlock the secret desires of their heart.
Perhaps we call it a "guide" these days, but the Muse is that part of each artist, musician or songwriter that guides the nature of their creative contribution. Music is the universal language that communicates soul-to-soul; it touches us in a variety of ways from our earliest days of lullabies to that tune you can't get out of your head. That certain song can remind you of a special time or place, bring you to your feet, sooth an aching heart or give you hope for the days ahead ... (excerpt from LyricalInspiration.com) |
Music expresses that which can not be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.
Victor Hugo |

Invite music into your life. (Yes, yours!) Even if you were the kid who was told to "sit in the back and just mouth the words," music making and enjoyment are part of your world and your natural right.
Mathieu, the author of The Listening Book (Shambhala 1991)
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. -Berthold Auerbach (German author, 1812 - 1882)
